I have these shoes (except in black) and my mom thinks that they are too fancy/sparkly to wear to my graduation. My dress is pretty casual. It has orange/brown/red leaves and flowers on it. Should I wear these shoes or find some other ones?

I know traditionally, you never ever match brown and black. But lately, I’ve been seeing people do it, and sometimes pull it off decently. What do you think of this black dress + brown shoe combination (along with necklace/purse to match the shoes)? Is brown + black still a huge no-no, or is it ok now?
